100 Days Reading Campaign Vanchan Abhiyan. According to the above subject and context, the Government of India, Ministry of Education has instructed to start 100 days reading campaign from 1/1/2022 from kindergarten to standard-8.

Under this, this reading campaign is being started by the Hon’ble Minister of Education on 1st January 2022. The research will launch a 100-day reading campaign for all children studying in Std. 1 to Std. 8 in all the schools in our state.

 
 
A guide has been prepared for this reading campaign.  Which is involved with this.  With this in mind, the offices under your jurisdiction will give necessary instructions to all the schools in the district to take action as per the reference letter of the Government of India and the guidelines attached herewith.

Reference: The Department of School Education and Literacy has launched a National Mission on 5th July 20th, a basic reading, writing and arithmetic mission known as Nipun Bharat.

The main purpose of which is to cover the learning needs of children in the age group of 3 to 9 years. All future education for the child is the basis of basic education established by various international researches.The child is left unprepared for the difficulties of post-Std.

 
 
 

The National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes the importance of acquiring universal basic reading and writing skills in primary schools in view of the importance of elementary education. Furthermore, it states that  If the level of reading, writing and arithmetic is not achieved first then the rest of this policy will be left to a large extent for most of our students.

 

Relevant textbooks are designed with the expectation that children will acquire A-grade skills and they can progress further.  2. Why is reading important? Reading is the foundation of education, which motivates students to read books independently.

Creativity, Critical Thinking Vocabulary  Develops the ability to express themselves both orally and in writing, helping children to relate to the situation around them and to real life situations.  

 
 
 
 

Thus, there is a need to create an enabling environment in which students read for fun and develop their skills through a process that is enjoyable and lasting and that stays with them for a lifetime.  The contribution of reading to improving learning outcomes has been demonstrated in various research studies.  It is a step towards developing language skills and writing skills.

 
Reading is a skill as opposed to speaking.  That which does not come naturally to man needs to be learned.  Reading is the interaction between the text and the reader, which involves not only understanding the meaning of the words but also the multi-level meaning behind the text.  It requires constant practice development and refinement. 
 
Reading at the earliest stage involves letter knowledge which includes naming and recognizing the names and sounds associated with them.  , Short-term reading skills concepts (e.g. left-right front-to-back reading), print awareness that includes the ability to match or discriminate visually rendered picture symbols.
