Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Resumption of Hostels for Higher Education Students Introduction: We are all well aware of the fact that the epidemic of Novel Coronavirus has significantly disrupted the field of higher education worldwide.
Schools and colleges were temporarily closed. Various guidelines have been issued by the Government of India to periodically take precautionary measures against epidemics. The Department of Education, Government of Gujarat is also actively working for the implementation of alternative methods of providing education as a precautionary measure.
A strategy is needed to manage the crisis in this time and build a resilient education system, in this time of crisis, the capacity building requires sensible educational practice. Department of Education, Government of Gujarat is committed to taking all possible steps to implement good and effective educational practices across the state.
Therefore, it is imperative to formulate and strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOPs) for the use of hostel facilities provided by higher education institutions, for the purpose of initiating higher education colleges/institutions. In this regard, the hostel has to be started in the near future, hence the standard operating procedure (SOP) has been formulated for the purpose of determining the process to be followed by the colleges/institutions to start the hostel.
Adherence to this SOP will prevent the transmission of Coronavirus by all and hence regular activities in the hostel can be resumed. All precautionary measures are to be taken at the hostel. It is desirable that students and other staff remain safe and secure while using the hostel facility, in the present circumstances, ensuring the health and safety of students and other staff in the hostel is a priority of the government.

Necessary steps before reopening the hostel: at, Hostel – As a precautionary measure for students, hand hygiene, social distance. And you have to adapt to life and work with the changes needed to stay fit. , No more than two students will be allowed to stay together in one room in the hostel.
Under no circumstances will students with covid symptoms be allowed to enter or stay in the hostel. – Thermal screening of all students staying in the hostel should be ensured. – The dining room/kitchen should be kept completely clean, avoiding overcrowding.
Meals should be served in small groups, with meals arranged in a room for students and staff to be available easily and without delay. The hostel campus has to be organized in such a way that there is no congestion and for that, the number of students has to be limited properly. For this, the students have to get wet from time to time.
