Separation of place and time of teaching and learning activities is the basic feature of distance learning.  Even so, isolation is not always permanent.  The duration varies according to the policies of the organizations.  You like to argue that even in the current system, not all studies are done in the presence of the professor, then what is the difference?  In fact, there is a difference in the period of separation.

 Distance learning on the other hand is based on the use of all available and possible mechanical or electronic (electronic) means.  Print, audio, country, teleconference, radio, commuter, etc.
