A record keeping a complete record of a student’s career from the time he enters school till he leaves school is called a record. ‘A sheet showing a compilation of comprehensive information about a student is called a record sheet.’
Before 1925, this sheet was rarely mentioned in the field of education, even if the scientific vision behind it is aside, the term ‘accumulated progress sheet’ can be used to refer to any record in which information can be added from year to year. Thus, the records for permanent records, if they give aggregated information for a number of years, can be called cumulative progress sheets. Thus this form contains relevant information about the student for some period of time.
Thus systematically collected student data, if properly developed and maintained over a period of years, will provide clear and meaningful information on the child’s progress.
Many commissions have laid emphasis on systematic recording of individual student’s studies but the recommendations of the Board of Secondary Education have brought good attention across the country to the record keeping. According to this recommendation report, it is especially important to have a progress report stored in the school.
